About

I'm a jewellery artist in the Comox Valley, on Vancouver Island, working with certified recycled sterling silver to create bold, nature-inspired pieces. I believe in handmade, thoughtfully crafted, high quality jewellery that directly supports real people and other small businesses.

Sarah Thorneycroft Jewellery, Comox Valley

Originally from the UK, my partner Pete and I have been fortunate to travel and live around the world, and in 2016 we put down roots in BC. My previous work in travel and whale watching took me to some incredible places, and Vancouver Island beats them all - I find endless inspiration in the wild landscapes and tiny details in forests, beaches and mountains. This is reflected over and over in my jewellery, with pieces designed to inspire a connection to the natural world.

My pieces are all handmade or cast from originals then hand-finished, often incorporating intricate natural textures and lines. Using a variety of techniques, my work includes hand engraving, reticulation, wax carving, imprinting botanicals, and sand casting. I am proud to be using certified 100% recycled precious metals, and I prioritise keeping my studio practices as sustainable as possible (see here). Feel free to ask questions about any of my processes.

My small business supports community and environmental non-profits through annual donations, as well as organisations supporting those facing a cancer diagnosis. I underwent a year of active treatment for breast cancer and am so grateful for the support I received. I'm very happy to now be in a position to give back, and it makes me even happier that I can do it while creating beautiful jewellery.
